I’m passionate about the power of playdough and the learning that can happen through something as simple as rolling, squishing, pinching and creating. Through play, children develop important skills, use their imaginations, solve problems and make sense of the world around them.
As a qualified educator and mama, I want to help parents understand the learning behind the play and share simple ideas that you can easily incorporate into play at home.

Spring brings so many wonderful opportunities to explore, from watching butterflies emerge, spotting busy bees and discovering flowers in bloom. So, of course, our first freebie had to be Spring-themed playdough mats!
I’ve created four free Spring-themed playdough mats for you to enjoy:

What are children practising?
These mats encourage children to develop:
Fine-motor skills – rolling and manipulating playdough strengthens little hands and fingers.
Hand-eye coordination – carefully placing playdough within the mat.
Early maths skills – counting, matching, sorting and creating patterns.
Creativity – making colour and design choices.
Concentration – focusing on a task and working towards completing it.
Keep it open-ended
Remember, there’s no need for your child's creation to look perfect! The mat is simply a starting point for exploration.
Try asking:
“How many balls did you make?”“Can you make the butterfly’s wings match?”“What colours could we use?”“What do you think happens to a caterpillar next?”
These simple conversations can turn play into opportunities for language development, problem-solving and critical thinking.
